The Model 3 has the Tesla advantage of excellent range, premium high-tech interior, and excellent performance, all in a fairly affordable package.
The Model 3 gets some nice updates in 2021, like updated styling inside and out and an improved range. Due to this latest update, there are no significant changes for 2022. It remains a unique option in electric cars with few direct competitors at this price point with this kind of range.
The Model 3’s closest competitor is the Polestar 2, but there are only a handful of Polestar retailers in the country.
As of this writing, there are 29 states (plus DC) where you can buy a Tesla and 21 where you can’t. Due to some old franchise laws meant to protect Detroit automakers, several states prohibit the sale of cars in Tesla stores.
Tesla continues to revise its lineup, with an emphasis on technology features to a large extent, and the Model 3 seems to be in line with some of the Palo Alto company-owned upgrades. Expected to launch soon, as already (supposed to be) rolling out in Fremont, the Model 3 2022 will look the same as the iteration that came out, but it does have some improvements.
Claiming to have seen updated electric sedan images, but unable to reveal them as it would jeopardize their sources, Electrek reports that the vehicle will not feature chrome trim on the outside anymore, and the trunk lid will be power-operated.
Meanwhile, driving comfort is understood to have been enhanced through the introduction of new dual pane windows. The upholstery is also said to have been revised and the center console appears to have been redesigned, with a matte finish, repositioned cup holders with removed chrome trim,
And a different-looking wireless charging pad for compatible mobile devices. On a different note, it seems that the rearview mirror-mounted camera, which Elon Musk claims doesn’t work and is there to be used by owners for Uber and Lyft’s autonomous services, can be used in many ways.
It reportedly tracks drivers’ eye and head movements and can tell when they’re using their cell phones. Logic tells us that technology will be used to produce a driver monitoring system, and you all know what that means: no more sleeping behind the wheel with the Autopilot on.

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 is the smallest and most affordable offering from the California-based electric car maker. After several updates for 2021 that include an upgraded interior, increased range at full cost, and additional standard features, we don’t expect significant changes for 2022.
That’s not a bad thing, as the Model 3 is one of Edmunds’ favorite EVs thanks to its range. excellent performance, powerful performance, and a comfortable and spacious interior.
Tesla isn’t the only automaker offering attractive electric cars these days. The Ford Mustang Mach-E stands out with its sporty performance and useful cargo area, while the all-new BMW i4 is a proper luxury sports sedan that just happens to be an EV.
That said, Tesla’s start has given the company a boost when it comes to the whole package. The Model 3 is still a very attractive sedan, and despite some of our frustration with the less-than-advertised range and complicated technology, it’s worth a look if you’re in the market for an electric vehicle.
We recommend using the Model 3 Long Range. It comes with all-wheel drive and a very healthy EPA estimate range of 353 miles, which is more than either of the other two trims. While not as fast as Performance, it’s still fun to drive.
The Tesla Model 3 is a small electric car. The sedan is available in three trim levels: Standard Range Plus, Long Range, and Performance. All three vary based on range and acceleration. Note that Tesla offers rolling updates for its cars rather than by model year, so features and range may differ from those shown below.
Standard Range Plus
It offers a maxim range of around 260 miles as well as:

Performance
Improves Long Range AWD performance but at the expense of range, which should be around 315 miles. The performance also has:

- 20-inch wheel
- Carbon fiber rear spoiler

- High-performance brakes
- Track-oriented driving mode
- Tesla offers a so-called Full Self-Driving Capabilities option which is available in all trims. It adds nice semi-automatic driving features, including automatic parking and the ability to change lanes with the flick of a turn signal. Tesla also says the Full Self-Driving Capability feature will get additional automated driving capabilities in the future via an over-the-air update.
Tesla Model 3 2022 News
The big news is a forgotten model year update, the Model 3 adds a power rod like the Model Y according to Electrek. “We’ve seen it,” and “can confirm some of the new features,” the publication was quoted as saying.
The US-spec also gets a chrome to remove the option for exterior trim, but the biggest changes are found on the inside. “Significant updates” to the cabin include new seats and a different center console with matte-finish trim instead of glossy piano black.
The cup holder loses its chrome, and “the charging part of the phone looks like a sturdy piece that doesn’t pop up”. Oh, and the windows now feature double-paneled glass for superior insulation from the weather and wind noise.
It is not known whether Tesla has any other changes to the Model 3 2021 for the United States, let alone if the Octovalve and the Model Y heat pump will be adopted by the world’s best-selling EVs.

Electrek was unable to confirm whether a new version would launch off the assembly line at Fremont, but sources from the cited publication claim that production is in progress. United States customers ordering the Model 3 now have to wait from 5 to 9 weeks for delivery, and the configurator still has two rear-driven versions of AWD and Standard Range Plus.
The most affordable of the lot – which starts at $ 37,990 excluding potential savings – is rated at a range of 250 miles (402 kilometers). Level up to Distance and Performance, and you can expect the Model 3 to cover 322 or 299 miles (518 or 481 kilometers) between charges.
As usual, the most expensive option available is Full Self-Driving Capability for the Autopilot range for $ 8,000.
2022 Model 3 Refresh
Tesla is making an update to the Model 3, which is significant enough that anyone other than Elon Musk will call it a refresher, And we’ve seen it. Electrek can confirm some new features.
Over the past few months, we’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about the Model 3 update.
It started when Tesla updated its Model 3 section and then submitted an application to produce a Model 3 with chrome removal in China.
We can now confirm that Tesla does plan to incorporate some updates to the Model 3 and that it will start shipping the new version.
We’ve seen the new Model 3 images, but we can’t share the current images to protect the source.
The images confirm several updates to the US-produced Model 3 including the removal of chrome on the exterior trim – like my Model 3 Image above.
Tesla has also added a powered trunk gate, like in the Model Y. The interior underwent a significant update with new seats at the top of the vehicle in a slightly darker-looking material.
The Model 3 gets a completely different center console. Tesla removed the glossy piano black finish and replaced it with a matte finish.
Here’s my own Model 3 center console and a quick snapshot to explain what the new Tesla console will look like.
The Model 3 center console is made of three different parts in one, but the new console almost looks like two pieces instead of one with the top where you charge the phone on top looking completely different.
It’s separated by a chrome trim that now wraps around the second piece. Instead of being the flaps flipping open, now the sliding doors are like in the Model S / X center console.
The cup holder lacks chrome trim and is located higher on the part that is closer to the part that has the opening.
The charging port of the phone looks like a solid piece that doesn’t flip up and down as of now.
It was wrapped in faux leather and the center looked like a suede-like material. Lastly, Tesla has revamped the windows with a new double pane glass, which will help insulate noise and weather.
The delivery time of the updated Model 3 feature is unclear, but sources say that the new version will roll out in assembly at Fremont.
After the news of the Tesla Model 3 2021 refresh earlier this week, we can now take a look at Tesla’s new center console coming with an update.
Earlier this week, we learned that Tesla released a Model 3 update with some updated features.
The new vehicle is registered as a ‘2021’ model year, which is a rare actual model year change for Tesla, and starts rolling out at Tesla’s Fremont factory.
We’ve seen the vehicle, but we can’t share any images, so we’re only listing new features we can visually confirm.
One of the biggest changes is the new center console and now that more and more Model 3 vehicles are being produced with the update, some are starting to see it.
As we reported earlier this week, Tesla removed the glossy piano black finish and replaced it with a matte finish.
That pinned the phone charge at the top, which is now clad in faux leather around it.
The center now slides open, not with the flipping system in the previous version.
2022 Tesla Model 3 Specs
The Tesla brand has a good reputation for building electric cars that are thrilling to drive. The Model 3 is no exception. Even in the basic single-motor configuration, the electric motor vigorously delivers plenty of torque to the rear wheels. One thing we love about the Drive Model 3 way is its customizability. Throttle response, brake feel, and steering weight can all be adjusted to your liking. No matter how you adjust it, the Model 3 is quiet, comfortable, and a pleasure to drive.
There are two Model 3 dual motor options, both all-wheel drive. In addition to the dual-motor setup, the Long Range model adds heated rear seats and a premium 14-speaker audio system. You also get one year of Premium Connectivity.
The Performance Model generates heat with a time of 3.1 seconds 0-60 mph plus lower suspension, performance brakes, aluminum pedals, carbon fiber rear spoiler, and 20-inch wheels.
Some of the upgrades available for the Standard Range Plus and Long Range models include a black and white 2-tone interior and 19-inch sport wheels. The Full Self-Driving Package available for all three models adds advanced driver assistance technology features such as Navigation on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, and more.

Over the last few days, we’ve been reporting on Tesla currently updating the Model 3 with a significant refresh that includes several new features.
The launch is a bit odd as the automaker has yet to confirm any new features despite starting to ship new vehicles from the Fremont factory.
Now the new Model 3 looks like it shipped from the Fremont factory with new wheels.
An Electrek reader saw a truck containing a new Model 3 2021 vehicle near the Fremont Tesla factory and we could see that the vehicle was equipped with a new wheel design that had never been seen on the Model 3 until now:
This new design is similar to Tesla’s 19 ” Sport Wheel for Model 3 with a slight difference.

However, they almost look like wheel caps, but a source says that they aren’t. While the spokes are similar, the new design features larger rims that meet flat spokes.
The new design leaves less open space in the wheels and therefore, should be more aerodynamic, which aids efficiency.
It looks like the new design could replace the 19 ”sport wheels on the Model 3, but we won’t know until Tesla updates its configurator.
This is just one of several new changes to the Tesla Model 3 2021 that we can visually confirm over the last few days.

2022 Tesla Model 3 Interiors
The Tesla Model 3 takes what you might call a minimalist approach to luxury. While some luxury car interiors are lavishly decorated with striking trim pieces, diamond-stitched leather, and crystal shift knobs, the inside of the Model 3 has a sophisticated simplicity.
The Model 3 interior has two options; All Black or Black and White. There’s a slab of wood trim on the dashboard, and the centerpiece of the interior is a 15-inch touchscreen that controls pretty much everything from maps to music to climate control. This is also where you’ll see basic information like the speedometer and battery gauge.
There’s a pair of wireless charging pads and four USB ports to ensure everyone’s devices are charged. Tech features missing on the Model 3 are Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This smartphone connectivity feature is becoming ubiquitous, and it’s the only infotainment system in new cars that don’t have it.
The front seats are roomy and supportive. They are comfortable all day long, even for taller adults. The rear seats, however, are a little tight for a car of this size. These seats are best booked for children or short trips for adults. Consider the Model Y crossover if you want a more family-friendly Tesla that won’t break the bank.
2022 Tesla Model 3 Exterior
The Tesla Model 3 style has sleek body lines and a good-looking wheel design, but there is some debate over the appearance of the front end. Some people like the snub nose which indicates the absence of the traditional grille, while others don’t care about this muzzle. Either way, it’s the unique look that makes it instantly recognizable as a Tesla.
As you can guess from the numerical name, the Tesla Model 3 is similar in size to the BMW 3 Series. In terms of size, it is on par with other leading players in the compact luxury sedan class such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. It’s slightly longer and lower than the Polestar 2, another premium EV with the same price tag as the Model 3.

The standard infotainment system is a giant 15-inch screen. This screen controls everything from temperature control to music and more. There are no buttons, knobs, or even physical ventilation controls. It takes a little getting used to but becomes intuitive after a while. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are missing features.
With the basic trim, you get 30 days of Premium Connectivity. This package includes live traffic, internet browser, music, and video streaming, and more.
The Autopilot semi-autonomous driving system comes standard on every Model 3. The feature set of this driver assistance technology includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and a surround-view parking camera system.
With Autopilot on, the Model 3 can adjust speed and steering to keep you in your lane, but you have to keep an eye on the road and your hand on the steering wheel.
Tesla Model 3 Facelift 2022
The Model 3 is Tesla’s entry-level vehicle and the most popular EV in terms of worldwide sales. It’s also our favorite in its class, earning Edmunds Top-Rated status.
The base model Standard Range Plus has an estimated range of 263 miles, while the Long Range version offers an impressive 353 miles. It’s important to note, though, that real-world reach has failed to reach these numbers in Edmunds’ testing.
For 2021, the Model 3 receives several updates, including increased range, more exterior aesthetic options, trunk lid, improved interior materials, and sound insulation.
It’s not yet clear what we can expect for the 2022 model year, but legions of internet prophets predict everything from this year’s model to a full redesign.

Remember in the early-mid 2000s, when phones were getting smaller and discreet—until the chunky iPhone came in 2007 to really turn the industry on its head?
Well, that’s exactly what the Tesla Model 3 did with its cars. Elon Musk’s idea is not only to show the world that long-distance electric cars are today and not the future, but also to completely reinvent the idea of how we see cars as a whole.
Because it doesn’t have to cool conventional engines like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4, the Tesla Model 3 electric car gets rid of something so vulgar as the grille on the bumper. Instead, there’s little more than a sleek intake, a pair of fog lamps and a license plate up front. However, things are a bit more in keeping with ‘normal’ cars elsewhere, with a somewhat undramatic side profile and a simple rear.
Go for the Highest Performance model and your Model 3 gets a lower suspension, a smooth carbon fiber boot spoiler and 20-inch Uberturbine wheels that are jazzily named to make the car look even lower, meaner and much sportier.
It’s in the car where the Tesla Model 3 is a real revolution. You can forget the minimalist cabin of an Audi A4 or Jaguar XE, the interior of the Tesla Model 3 is almost completely devoid of any buttons, knobs or dials.
Instead, you control almost everything via the 15-inch touchscreen. It’s a good thing, then, that the screen is easy to read, fairly thoughtfully laid out, and responds to your input as quickly as the top-of-the-range iPad. Satellite navigation, based on Google Maps, is very easy to use and follow.
The rest of the Tesla Model 3’s cabin looks a bit mundane by comparison, but at least it feels pretty solid now – which isn’t always the case with Tesla cars. It’s not quite as roomy as the new BMW 3 Series – especially at the rear – but the Tesla Model 3 comes with a wide panoramic glass roof that extends from the driver’s headrest to the trunk cover. This is a welcome addition, as it does a fantastic job of flooding the cabin with light.
It doesn’t do anything to increase the Tesla Model 3’s boot space, though. There’s room for about six suitcases and a few overstuffed bags, but the many petrol and diesel-powered alternatives are still more roomy. It beats its main alternative in the all-electric Polestar 2 by 100 liters, and also has a little extra storage up front where an internal combustion car would have an engine.
If you’re going to be using a Tesla Model 3 to drop into a store, you won’t worry too much about range, but it’s nice to know that the Long Range model can manage about 374 miles between charges if you’re extra careful. Charging from empty takes about 12 hours using a dedicated wall charger at home or you can boost the Model 3’s battery from 10% to 80% full in just 35 minutes using Tesla’s 120kw public charging point.
The performance model loses a few miles of range, capable of 340 miles between chargers, but much faster. Acceleration from 0-60mph takes just 3.1 seconds compared to the Remote version’s 4.2 seconds — and the Standard Plus’s 5.3 seconds. This means it’s faster than almost any other premium sedan on sale – and many sports cars are much more expensive for that matter.
Driving on the highway is even easier, with the optional Autopilot system allowing the car to drive on its own – as long as you keep your hands on the wheel. It will accelerate, brake, and direct you to keep a safe distance from other cars and will even change lanes when you indicate it. As good as it sounds, it will set you back an extra £6,800.
In fact, the sheer number of passenger-impressive tools you get on the Model 3 makes the more expensive Model S seem pointless. It may be the baby of the Tesla lineup, but the Model 3’s stylish look, futuristic yet practical cabin, and sports car decoy performance make it one of the best electric cars on sale and a genuine alternative to mainstream luxury sedans.

Tesla Model 3 2022 Release Date
Tesla has now pushed orders for the new Model 3 Standard Range Plus up to 6 months, until January 2022. There may be several factors at play. Today, Tesla has updated its online configurator to push the deadline for shipping orders for the new Model 3 Standard Range Plus to January 2022.
However, Tesla’s online configurator points out that the Model 3 Long Range still has a November 2021 delivery schedule, while the Model 3 Performance could ship as fast as four to seven weeks.
This is one of the biggest differences between variants of the same model we have seen to date: Tesla has strong demand in the US, which could explain its very long delivery timeline.
But Tesla also has significant supply chain issues, particularly related to chip shortages. It makes sense for the automaker to prioritize the more expensive version of the Model 3 when it comes to new orders. Tesla could ship more chips and microchips to the vehicle.
As for the Model Y, the Long Range version also has a significant delivery schedule in December 2021 for new orders, while the Model Y Performance can be delivered on the same timeline as the Model 3 Performance:
As for the Model S and Model X, both have also seen their delivery schedules increase significantly recently.
Since we don’t expect many changes to the 2022 model, it’s safe to say that this Tesla will be priced at close to $40k. With the huge range of features, comfort, incredible driving range, and superior performance on offer, you can’t go wrong with the Model 3 as your next purchase.
2022 Tesla Model 3 Price
As of this writing, we don’t know any official pricing data for the 2022 Tesla Model 3. We expect the Standard Range Plus trim to start at around $39,000. The Long Range model should start right around $50,000, while the Performance model will likely start around $57,000. All of these prices are before state or local incentives begin, which vary depending on where you live.
The closest rival to the Model 3 is the Polestar 2, which is still eligible for the $7,500 federal tax incentive. After that price cut, the prices of the two premium EVs are pretty similar for the base model. The dual-motor Polestar 2 is more affordable than the Model 3 Long Range, but the Polestar has a much shorter range.
Part of the beauty of the Tesla Model 3 is that it’s an all-electric compact luxury sedan at a similar starting price to its gas-powered competitors. The Model 3’s starting price is similar to that of the Audi A4, Lexus IS, BMW 3 Series, and most other conventional compact luxury sedans.
If you look at last year’s Standard Range Plus model, starting at $ 40,000, is the best value.
An estimated 250 miles should be sufficient for most people and comes standard with heated front seats and navigation.
