2022 Tesla Cybertruck Review The Tesla Cybertruck looks like it was brought down by an alien race, but has the ability to challenge any of the best-selling pickup trucks. With a sharp exterior made of scratch and dent resistant steel, the Tesla electric truck is tough.
Along with all-wheel drive available, the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck can tow up to 14,000 pounds and has an estimated 500-plus miles of mileage. While that only applies to the most expensive models, the cheapest ones start at $ 39,900. Of course, we still don’t know much about 2022 Tesla Cybertruck, including when it will be officially sold. At the moment, it looks like the first version will be produced in late 2021.
Tesla expanded its lineup to include one of America’s most popular body models – pickup trucks. With hugely impressive statistics for EVs and pickups, 2022 Tesla Cybertruck provides the company with a potentially strong sales force given how well trucks are selling in the country.
Although Ford and General Motors say they will have their own electric version in the next two years, Tesla’s only other competitors are the Bollinger B2 and Rivian R1T.

Only a handful of cars today come close to matching the Tesla Cybertruck’s ‘shock’ factor. In November 2019, Elon Musk caught the attention of the automotive world and beyond when he launched the first Tesla electric pickup to the public. The initial shock may have faded, but anticipation for the truck release is increasing.
It looks like Cybertruck will be a huge success with over 200,000 pre-orders received in the first few days after launch. The first deliveries should start by the end of 2021 if the company is ‘lucky,’ according to Elon Musk’s recent statement, but don’t expect volume production until 2022.That’s not the only thing we’ve learned recently about this futuristic vehicle – read on to find out more.
Would you expect the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck to become a Honda Ridgeline with batteries? Would you expect Tesla to play it safe and use the same template that Rivian spent? Did you expect a vehicle with more range and capability than Bollinger B2? What exactly are you expecting?
We struggled with the same questions when we were invited a month before the Tesla 2022 Tesla Cybertruck concept was revealed to the Tesla Hawthorne, California campus, which is adjacent to SpaceX and Hawthorne airport to provide feedback on the truck.
All we can tell you is, like most of you, we weren’t even close. Despite the myriad of speculations and speculations of experts, what awaits us behind the secure doorway into the Tesla design studio is nowhere near what we had predicted among ourselves.
With the swipe of a keycard, our small teams from Motor Trend, Truck Trend and Four Wheeler are taken to the design studio and become the imagination of the Tesla design team. At first glance we thought, “Isn’t this true? It can’t be. It’s too raw, too subtle.” Seeing something from a futurist film from the 80s, or an interesting mix of first-generation stealth technology, mixed with the 8-bit simplicity of our digital youth, that’s where it sits sadly, Tesla Cybertruck 2022.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Redesign
If you’ve ever wanted to fly an F-117 Nighthawk that may have graced a poster on your bedroom wall, the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck may be the closest to your experience. The angular design is simple, almost a flop. It reminds us of the sketch that filled our textbooks in high school. However, as you walk around it and absorb it, there are minor details where form and function fight a little to form an sometimes impure alliance.
Take for example the awkward roof top that feels as if it should start sliding down faster. This is a weird feature that doesn’t make any sense until you realize that the crest is in place because it has a recessed light bar for off-roading. That toned windshield is designed with state-of-the-art glass that will withstand rock chips and cracks.
The 8 year old boy in us wants to scream “yes, yes”, but everything we’ve learned from over 20 years in the truck industry puts us on the brakes. While it’s hard to really measure the design indoors, our guess is that it looks really brutal and really stands out in the wild and in the sun.
From the top of the crest, the four-door crew cab features screen panels that lead to the rear body and will include storage on the production truck. The bed, which is 6.5 feet long, includes an accessory rail and straps, and features a lockable, roll-up tonneau cover that is stored in a hidden compartment in front of the bed. The beds are 57 inches wide and have no wheel problems. Ridgeline-like rods positioned on the floor.
About the size of a traditional crew-cabin half-ton truck, the stainless steel body is diamond-shaped (the concept is on the frame, but the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck production will be a single body) 3mm thick and resists corrosion, scratches and even 9mm bullets.
No seriously, the truck is completely bulletproof. Simple lines and materials make production easier, and the truck doesn’t need to be painted. Basically, if you want a color other than beautiful uncoated stainless, wrapping might be in your future.
If you thought the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck was a big chunk of stainless steel clad vaporware, you might have to think twice. The enormous, pyramid-shaped electric pickup truck could see its first delivery later this year, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
“I think it’s going to be a great vehicle,” Musk said of the Tesla Cybertruck, during a phone call with investors to discuss 2020 earnings. “If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to make some deliveries by the end of this year. But I’m expecting production volumes. in 2022. “
Yes, he said “lucky” and Musk is also known for touting production and release dates that Tesla ultimately didn’t meet. But it appears that real progress is being made.
“We’ve finished all of the engineering of the Cybertruck,” Musk said, and the designs are in place. That’s progress considering the design team is still playing around in the fall. The next step is to order the equipment needed to build the corner truck and its stainless steel panels.
Musk said the company needed a large casting machine for a long tailgate. It takes 8,000 tonnes of press, even more than the 6,000 tonne press used to make the Tesla Model Y 2021, which uses a piece of metal to form the rear third of the vehicle’s white body. A new Gigafactory under construction in Austin, Texas, will assemble the Cybertruck.
If 2022 Tesla Cybertruck can really pull as much as Tesla claims, it will have a higher maximum rating than popular alternatives like the Ram 1500. While the single and dual-motor Tesla have maximum crane ratings of 7,500 and 10,000 pounds respectively, the model with a third motor will be able to pull 14,000 pounds. Each 2022 Tesla Cybertruck can also haul 3,500 pounds on a 6.5 foot cargo bed.
Tesla did not reveal the size of the battery that will drive its electric pickup. However, each model will have a 250 kW charging cable. Of course, it will also have access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. Driving mileage varies with the number of motors, but Tesla claims a single motor has a range of more than 250 miles, a dual motorbike has a range of more than 300 miles, and a top-tier tri-motor setup should provide more than 500 miles. miles on a single charge.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck according to the news that we got, 2022 Tesla Cybertruck seemed to be handed down by an alien race but could challenge all the best-selling pickup trucks.
Equipped with a sharp exterior structure made of scratch-resistant stainless steel and dents, the Tesla all-electric truck is very tough. Along with the available all-wheel drive, Cybertruck can be towed up to 14,000 pounds and has an estimated driving range of more than 500 miles.
While that only applies to the most expensive models, the cheapest ones start at $ 39,900. Of course, there is still much that we don’t know about Cybertruck, including when it will be officially sold.
At present, it looks like the first version will begin production in late 2021. Tesla expanded its range to include one of the most popular body styles in America – pickup trucks.
With very impressive statistics for both EV and pickup, 2022 Tesla Cybertruck gives the company a theoretical whiz in the hole, given how well trucks are sold in the country. Although Ford and General Motors say they will have their own version in the next two years, the only other Tesla competition is Bollinger B2 and Rivian R1T
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Interior
Offering a wide body, imagine the track width of the Ford Raptor, except for the body that blows up to the surface of the wheels, the Tesla Cybertruck is designed to comfortably fit six in a 3 + 3 arrangement. While the exterior takes a dramatic change from the current Tesla design direction, the interior will be familiar. for anyone accustomed to simple branding and roomy aesthetics.
Controversially, all driver information is accessed via a single screen mounted in the center and we didn’t notice any hard buttons. We asked the Tesla team to consider adding a driver-centered screen in front of the steering wheel and a few buttons, knowing how truck owners like to interact with their vehicles, so we’ll see what production 2022 Tesla Cybertruck ultimately holds.
We also had to point out that forward, over the shoulder, and backward visibility was a concern in our initial interactions with the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck, but Tesla told us they would complement the visibility with sensor and camera settings to assist drivers.
Those who thought the minimalist Tesla Model 3 interior would revive that reaction when they saw the Cybertruck’s spartan cabin. While many of the standard features and options are yet to be revealed, the first image shows a slab-like dashboard dominated only by one large touchscreen. The rectangular steering wheel looks like it has some kind of lit appearance, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The 2022 Tesla Cybertruck will also accommodate up to six people, and the 6.4-foot cargo bed offers 100 cubic feet of volume. It also has a nice sliding-out rear door that doubles as a ramp for four-wheeled vehicles and motorbikes.
As with most of the interior, the specific details about the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck infotainment system are largely a mystery. However, we know each model will have a large 17-inch touchscreen mounted horizontally in the center of the dashboard.

2022 Tesla Cybertruck Exterior
Regardless of whether you are a design fan or not, it’s hard to argue with the specs that Tesla has thrown at us. 2022 Tesla Cybertruck is not intended to be a truck scammer. Finally powered by up to three Tesla’s upcoming “Checkered” electric motors, we estimate that the production truck can have as much as 800 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. This is more than enough power to move the Cybertruck’s estimated maximum payload of 3,350 pounds and a maximum trailer rating of 14,000 pounds.
Those are numbers that will require a large battery and Tesla will have a base system that will offer a range of about 300 miles of the new technology. The new stacked battery array will be optional and will extend the range to about 450 miles. This completely shatters the range Bollinger is currently citing, and is safely above the optional topline range currently quoted by Rivian on the upcoming R1.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Off-Road
With off-road and adventure essential to the Tesla team, engineers went to great lengths to provide the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck with a flat, protected stomach to allow for a large amount of ground clearance and the ability to slide over obstacles. The 2022 Tesla Cybertruck features four-wheel drive and will have the technology to manage the power output and traction of the factory 35-inch tires.
The air adjustable suspension not only drops for the aero, raises for the wheels, and front and rear levels, side to side, but will lower the back of the truck for easy loading on a bicycle, ATV or cargo. More importantly, the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck has a very long A-arm and appears to be more than a foot in wheelbase. We’ve also been promised a sophisticated surprise package that will allow it to do some cool things on the ground.
Tesla Will Achieve Full Self-Driving Autonomy This Year
Musk told investors he is confident Tesla will achieve Level 5 autonomy capability this year, given the progress made in both hardware and software. What’s left is to increase the core reliability of the Autopilot which the CEO says is almost 100 percent but should far exceed that. Musk said Tesla is open to licensing its Autopilot technology to other automakers, such as others who can use the Supercharger fast charger network.
One thing that cannot be shared: Those who paid around $ 8,000 for the Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) package were unable to transfer the software upgrade to the new Tesla – this was tied to the original purchase. Musk said the automaker would not allow transfers but said Tesla would offer subscriptions in the next few months, but gave no further details.
Tesla marks its first year of profitability in 2020, while at the same time mainstream competition for company vehicles has finally arrived on the mass market (Ford Mustang Mach-E) and the luxury segment (Porsche Taycan).
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Battery Range, Charging and Age
Tesla does not reveal the size of the battery that will drive the electric pickup. However, each model will have a 250-kW charging cable.
Of course, it will also have access to the vast Tesla Superchargers network.
The driving range varies with the number of motors, but Tesla claims that a single motor has a range of 250-plus miles, dual motors have a range of 300-plus miles, and a top tri-motor arrangement must provide more than 500 miles at a cost.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Towing and Payload Capacity
If 2022 Tesla Cybertruck can really attract as much as Tesla claims, it will have a higher maximum rating than popular alternatives like Ram 1500.
While Teslas single and dual motors have a maximum crane rating of 7,500 and 10,000 pounds respectively, models with third motorcycles will be able to attract 14,000 pounds.
Each 2022 Tesla Cybertruck can also transport 3,500 pounds on a 6.5-foot cargo bed.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Real-World Fuel Economy and MPG
Because EPA has not yet released an official rating for 2022 Tesla Cybertruck, we can only turn off the initial Tesla estimates.
Likewise, we also have to wait until we get a real production model to test the ambitious maximum driving range in the real world.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Cybertruck has not been tested for accidents by the National Road Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Road Safety (IIHS).
2022 Tesla Cybertruck Engine
The 2022 Tesla Cybertruck is available with not one, not two, but three electric motors. While single-engine trucks have rear-wheel drive, the two- and three-motor models have all-wheel drive. Tesla claims it will go from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and hit 110 mph.
The dual motor 2022 Tesla Cybertruck will reportedly hit 60 mph in just 4.5 ticks and have a top speed of 120 mph. Those looking for top performance will appreciate the three-motor model, which according to Tesla will essentially teleport from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds (!) With a top speed of 130 mph.
All 2022 Tesla Cybertruck have an adjustable air suspension that raises or lowers quickly and provides up to 16 inches of ground clearance. Add that to the 35-degree approach and 28-degree angle of departure and the Tesla pickup can be a formidable off-road machine.

2022 Tesla Cybertruck Price
The 2022 Tesla Cybertruck will be available in three different configurations, all based on the number of electric motors each has. Although all-wheel drive is standard on all but the single motor versions, each additional motor means faster acceleration, longer driving distance and more crane capacity.
Single Motor $ 39,900
Dual Motor $ 49,900
Tri Motor $ 69,900
However, each model will feature the controversial Tesla Autopilot self-driving feature, and the company says it will offer a Full Self-Driving option for $ 7,000. We also expect other driver assistance technology available.
