However, DragTimes got his hands on a Model 3 and decided to test the acceleration of the current version with the RWD engine and the long-range battery pack. They used a VBOX to test the acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph and quarter-mile time. For the quarter mile, they achieved a time of 13.376 seconds at 103 mph. Tesla had not launched any numbers for the quarter mile, so that’s our new benchmark. As for the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph, Tesla has been announcing 5.1 seconds for the long-range battery pack option.
Dragtimes beat that in his two races, including one in 4.6 seconds, which is significantly faster than what TESLA is announcing. It’s nothing new. Tesla owners have often achieved better moments than Tesla has been announcing even with previous vehicles and sometimes has to do with the test method. But in the case of Model 3, you have to wonder if Tesla is not trying to maintain the appearance that the difference between Model 3 and model S is greater than it really is for not cannibalize sales.
Of course, you can get Model S vehicles faster than Model 3 at this time, but Tesla’s slower model is now accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, which is getting pretty close to what Dragtimes accomplished here. I think it’s going to be a great year for model S and Model X. They have been delayed a lot for an update even though Musk says it’s something Tesla doesn’t really do.
It is true that Tesla often brings improvements to the market as soon as they are ready and do not necessarily expect to agrufarlos like other car manufacturers, but there are moments when Tesla brings more significant updates at the same time as you could call an “Update “. That’s going to be the case in 2019 and it’s very late in my opinion. 2019 Tesla Model S 0-60
It will be a significant improvement for interior design and harmonize the design language of all Tesla’s lineup. I don’t think the exterior of the model S and model X will change much in 2019, but I think Tesla will also release performance improvements throughout the year. I think we will see the top of the battery option of the line going up to at least 110 kWh-maybe even up to 125 kWh, but that would be surprising. The highest power capacity may or may not be enabled by a switch to 2170 battery cells for those models.
Either way, I think it will also result in model S and model X being able to handle a faster load rate in 2019 with the release of Supercharger V3. A little more power is also likely in my opinion. Between the interior update and some performance improvements, I think model S and model X will increase demand during the second half of the year.
