2018 Tesla Model 3 MPG
2018 Tesla Model 3 MPG welcome to Tesla car USA designs and manufactures electric car, we hope our site can give you best experience. Although Tesla does not have complete specs on the new Model 3 sedan, the auto maker has a few claims about its more affordable model. Pricing for Model 3 is expected to start at $35,000 before government incentives. In contrast, the base rear drive Tesla Model S 60 starts at $70,000.
Tesla claims that the Model 3 will reach 215 miles and accelerate to 60 miles per hour in less than 6 seconds. The five-seater sedan should also have been designed to earn a five star safety rating. Other features include the autopilot hardware and the ability to use the company’s supercharger network designed for the S model.
Inside, the Model 3 has a simplified interior compared to the Model S and Model X vehicles. The standard models are equipped with a large, centrally mounted horizontal screen to replace both the driver’s information display and the vertical infotainment screen used in the current car manufacturer’s models.
Despite its hedge profile, the Tesla Model 3 is a traditional sedan about the size of a BMW 3 Series Coupé and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Unlike the Model 3 heavy-duty aluminum body, it is made of a steel unit with aluminum panels.
According to the EPA, the Model 3 is in a different league than any other affordable EV in terms of the driving range – but remember, only the not very affordable long-range model is available so far. However, it has underestimated the EPA estimates by a wide margin in our real-world range test.
Only the long-haul car has EPA MPGe estimates at this point, and the numbers are largely competitive with those of the other compact EVs. MPGe equivalent for miles per gallon (of gasoline) is a unit created to compare the efficiency of an EV with a gasoline-burning car. The Model 3 is rated by the EPA at a combined 130 MPGe, meaning it can travel 130 miles on a lot of electrical energy equal to the energy contained in a gallon of gasoline. In other words, the Model 3 is as energy efficient as a gasoline-powered car that gets 130 mpg. The highway estimate is tops in this group, while the combined estimate is second only to the Hyundai Ioniq Electric. And, as you say, your mileage may vary.
The EPA claims that the Model 3 long range 310 miles on a single charge that can go longer than any non-Tesla EV. The standard range car is supposed to hit 220 miles in the same metric, although the government has not yet rated it.
We have developed our own fuel-saving test to replicate how most people drive on the highway. Our procedure involves a 200-mile out-and-back loop on Michigan’s I-94 highway (we run EVs on a shorter loop to avoid having them back to our offices on the back of a flatbed truck). We store GPS verified 75 miles per hour and use cruise control to track the number of drivers on long journeys.

When we ran the Tesla on this loop, it reached only 84 MPGe, far from its 123-MPGe EPA Highway estimate. Both this number and the observed 200-mile range that results from it, however, come with a substantial caveat: they were reached on a day when the temperature was 28 degrees Fahrenheit. The results of the bolt EV, on the other hand, were reached on a 56 degree day. When it comes to testing the real world EV range, we have observed a difference of more than 20 percent between cold and warm-weather test results. We hope to get our hands on another Model 3 in warmer temps to test it again.
